Thai Consulate in Salt Lake City, Utah Closes

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the now former Thai Consulate, or now no longer operational, I should say, Thai Consulate in the State of Utah; specifically Salt Lake City.

A recent announcement, well not so recent actually, it is a few months old but I just became aware of it in the last couple weeks.  You can see it on thaiconsulate-slc.com.  The header is Royal Thai Honorary Consulate Salt Lake City Announcement. "Beginning September 28th, 2018, Honorary Consulate in Salt Lake will close.  After that date, all formal Consular business including applications for tourist visas will need to be directed to the Royal Thai Consulate General Office in Los Angeles.  There will not be a local Consul to assist with visa or other business.  We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience."

So those living in Utah be aware it's no longer possible to utilize the Thai Consulate in Salt Lake City, moving forward, at least as of September 28th 2018 and moving forward again, it looks like you're going to have to fall back on the default Consulate with consular jurisdiction which is as stated in this announcement; the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles, California.

So moving forward those folks in Utah are probably going to have to go ahead and use that Consulate when processing requests for visa issuance, various notarizations etc.  Unfortunate.  It was my understanding that that particular post was very efficient and very effective in assisting those who needed for example visas to Thailand or assistance with document certification pertaining to Thailand but moving forward, now it is 2019, that is no longer going to be possible in that particular State.
