Thai Immigration Officials Seek More Airport Efficiency?

Transcript of the above video:

It has really been fun to watch with the reopening of Thailand, just to watch the tourists come back, everything is just sort of I hesitate to say getting back to normal, we are not quite there yet, but getting back to status quo ante. We are seeing tourists around, things generally kind of moving in the right direction. But there is sort of another side to that coin which is Immigration is starting to have to deal with a heavier workload associated with all the new arrivals.

I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from Thai PBS World that's, thaipbsworld.com, the article is titled: Baggage reclaim service provider at Suvarnabhumi Airport faces ultimatum. Quoting directly: "The Company contracted to handle passenger baggage at Suvarnabhumi Airport will be replaced if it does not improve the baggage reclaim service, which is currently causing delays for passengers. Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob said yesterday (Thursday) that he has in trucks struck to the Transport Permanent Secretary to instruct the company to solve the problem, failing that the Transport Ministry may revoke its contract."

Yeah I have heard this in multiple contexts that this issue with respect to baggage reclaim is kind of clogging up the pikes if you will at Thai Immigration insofar as it's causing delays and things and they have got a number of people going through there. They have got enough problems processing them through Immigration and dealing with customs and things, they don't need any more issues. So it's good to see that the Government, the relevant officials with respect to like the Transportation Ministry are looking into this and hopefully we will see further efficiency on this front.

Now that being said, I have never ever found Suvarnabhumi to be very inefficient frankly, in my experience. Most of my experiences it's a pretty smooth process in and out. Now that being said, I've gone through there so many times that I kind of know the place well and I know a few little shortcuts and things. You go to this desk as opposed to that desk, or you go to this part of the airport to process through as opposed to that part of the airport. I have gotten a little bit savvy there, very little bit I should point out. For a tourist coming in for the first time, they are just going to go, it's like water running downhill, they are going to go wherever it's easiest to go and if there are delays as a result of baggage reclaim, it would be a good thing to see that be cleaned up and see the thing process more efficiently in the relatively near future.
