Thai Visas Cheaper And Easier Comparing To Neighboring Countries?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are posing the question, "is Thai Immigration cheaper and easier to use compared to some other jurisdictions here in Southeast Asia?’ I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Visa differences impede progress towards a Schengen-style south east Asia. Quoting directly: "Thailand now allows no-cost visa exemptions for tourist traffic from 93 countries, about half the number agreed by Vietnam." So Thailand allows double the nationalities to come into Thailand Visa-free than for example Vietnam. Quoting further: "Cambodia charges almost all visitors US$30 on arrival or via e-visa application while troubled Myanmar insists on a pre-purchased Visa which can take up to two weeks to issue."

Well let's set aside Myanmar. I don't think a ton of people are going over to Myanmar for sort of general tourism purposes but Cambodia and Vietnam I think that there is some insight to be had there. So again it's notable. Thailand is allowing double the number of Visa-free travellers into Thailand and then on top of it, it's free; it doesn't cost anything. Meanwhile Cambodia is charging 30 bucks a pop and yeah this isn't necessarily the case for ASEAN passport holders. Since I got my Thai passport and went to Cambodia it was quite nice. I didn't have to pay any fees, you just go right through and you are stamped in. But all the time I ever went over there as a foreigner - well I'm always a foreigner to the Cambodians - but before I got my Thai passport, yeah you always had to wait in that line; you had to get your visa-on-arrival; you had to pay the money, process it through, it took a little time. They were pretty efficient about it, but do I love paying 30 bucks to go someplace? No, not exactly.

So I think that this article brings up a good point insofar as yeah, there is a substantial cost difference in terms of visas as well as kind of a hassle differential when it comes to Visa-free entry. Thailand pretty well across the board, if you are looking for a hassle-free country to just come in and be a tourist in for a few weeks, even a few months, you are probably better off touring Thailand than other jurisdictions in the region just from a cost and efficiency standpoint.
