Is Thailand "Getting Tougher for Expats"?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video asks, "Is Thailand getting tougher for expats?" the reason for this, I am not even going to read from the article, I did read this article from ASEAN NOW, that is aseannow.com, the article is titled: Is Thailand getting tougher for expats, how about Vietnam? I urge those who are watching this video go check that out but "tougher" compared to what? I mean we saw in Vietnam, people were getting expelled from Vietnam in the middle of the pandemic at the same time that Thailand was trying to let people in.

Thailand in my opinion in the region has been one of, if not the best jurisdiction with respect to both trying to accommodate tourists and expats and also trying to deal with the worst aspects of the overall lockdown, the global situation, all of it. So when people kind of make these comments, I sort of step back and I say yeah I will be the first to point out my criticisms of the way things are being done as anybody who watches this channel is well aware. But compared to Vietnam, especially at this particular moment, if I knew what I know now but I had never lived in either place and I was looking at it from the outside, I definitely would pick Thailand, I mean hands down. It has got more long-term prospects for expats. Vietnam is not nearly as conducive to doing business as a foreigner in that jurisdiction as is Thailand in a number of different ways. One of the big ones for Americans is Thailand has the US-Thai Treaty of Amity which allows Americans to own their companies 100%. There are a number of different reasons why I think Thailand is probably a better place for expats and I really don't think at this critical moment in time, where we are coming to the end of this pandemic tunnel although things have not gotten back to what they were quarter one of 2020, but we are all kind of in a state of flux, I don't think that this is the best time to make those kind of judgments.
