Thailand Is "a Global Tourism Powerhouse?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are asking the question, “Thailand is a global tourism powerhouse?” I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Nation, that's nationthailand.com, the article is titled: Thailand has welcomed 26 million visitors so far this year. It's worth noting "so far this year” - 26 million "so far" this year - we haven't even hit the heights of high season yet, so these are great numbers.
Quoting directly: "Thailand continues to solidify its position as a Global tourism powerhouse, attracting a staggering 26 million foreign visitors year to date, generating over 1.2 trillion baht in revenue, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports on Wednesday. China remains the top source of tourists, with 5.3 million Chinese travellers visiting Thailand during this period. Other significant contributors include Malaysia, India, South Korea and Russia. The Ministry highlighted a notable surge (7.78%) in tourist arrivals during the past week, driven by factors such as consecutive national holidays in China and South Korea. This increase was particularly evident among short-haul visitors from Southeast Asia and long-haul travellers from Europe and the United States."
So, yeah I think it's worth noting, again I have talked about this in other videos, with the advent or I should say the creation of the Destination Thailand Visa, the relaxation of Visa Exemption rules - specifically allowing 60 days of lawful status here in Thailand upon arrival with a given passport that is in the exemption list which is now 93 countries - you can get 60 days on arrival. I mean all of this I think is contributing overall to really a major high season this year. I think we are going to see numbers that are off the chart. Again where they are saying that there has already been 26 million, I mean Thailand is used to seeing, I mean this is going back into 2019 pre-Covid we were seeing you 39 million, 40 million folks and that was at the height. If we are at 26 million now going into high season, I can't even imagine what the numbers are going to look like.
So yeah I'd say it's pretty fair to say that Thailand is definitely a powerhouse when it comes to tourism, but we're also seeing a lot of folks moving here to expatriate and live here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
