Thailand Inter-Provincial Travel Update

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing inter-provincial travel here in Thailand. A lot of folks have been asking us about this. Let me preface this video by first of all saying each and every person's situation is different. Whatever province you are coming from and looking to go to and return to or go onward to, your circumstances, there is no real uniform analysis associated with inter-provincial travel here in Thailand. If you are really worried about it, you are concerned about it and you have to travel around, honestly it may not be a terrible idea to contact a legal professional and gain some insight and guidance into how to deal with that.

That said, we can provide some basic overview information. First of all from the Bangkok Post, this is the print edition Friday July 30, 2021 and the article is titled: Phuket Governor Orders Entire Island Sealed off. It goes on to note that there are exempt folks that are exempt from being sealed out of Phuket that can still get there. They go on to note that: "Those exempt are still required to be fully vaccinated and have proof to show at the entry checkpoint." So just to get into Phuket for example you have got to prove vaccination. Meanwhile, we have got anecdotal reports from various clients in different places. One of the biggest things associated with this seems to be if you leave a province and don't return same day. Now different provinces have different rules but one thing we have heard from various folks up North and various provinces up in the Northern and Northeastern parts of Thailand is that if you go and you stay away overnight, that can cause some issues coming back in. You may get quarantined for 14 days on your way back in; that can lead to some issues.

Now the thing to be aware about down here in the Bangkok metro area, down in Pattaya, Prachuab Kirikhan, those sort of places, it is a little different. Again it is going to be province specific, the specific rules related to where you are at, where you are going and coming back from or if you are going to one place and then you are going onward, that can all completely change the analysis. So again there is no sort of one size fits all analysis for this. It is going to be very dependent on the provinces involved and the circumstances of one's travel.
