Thai Work Permit: Bangkok Employment Office Area 8 and 9

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the Thai Work Permit. Specifically we are discussing applications for a Thai Work Permit as well as applications for renewal of a Thai Work Permit

There have been changes to the administrative rules regarding how these things are processed, how Work Permits are processed here in the Kingdom of Thailand specifically applications in Bangkok for both a new Work Permit and renewal of Work Permits. In the past these were processed at the Central Ministry of Labour Office but now they are devolving the processing authority to local area offices.

Specifically in this video we are talking about Bangkok Employment Office Area 8 and 9. Let's go through the specific districts which these specific employment offices are going to take jurisdiction over. So Area 8, the jurisdictional area will be Dusit, Pom Prap Satrupai, Pranakorn, Sampantawongse; so that is Area 8. Area 9 will be administered by Bangkok Employment Office Area 9 and will include Chatuchak, Don Muang, Bangsue, Bangkhen and Laksi. So we are talking about these two offices respectively which will have authority over those various districts.

Now one thing to note in this video is if the Company you are working for is different from where you live, you may not live necessarily where you work, you are probably going to have to apply at the district where you work. As noted, companies that are promoted under the BOI so the Board of Investment as well as certain companies of a certain size, may be able to avail themselves of the One Stop Service Center and you may not need to deal with this new change with respect to the localization of processing of Work Permit applications.
